Programs, athletics & pathways

French Immersion continues at Carihi through grades 9–12, with students able to complete the Double Dogwood bilingual graduation pathway.

Carihi publishes programs in fine and performing arts, fly fishing, forestry and career education, plus Hockey Academy and Soccer Academy options.

Current school sports include cross-country, volleyball, swimming, soccer, basketball, wrestling, curling, track and field, rugby and golf.

ROOTED fit: outdoor skills, equipment access, transportation support, photography/media, sport pathways, trades/career exposure and locally led technical learning all make sense here without duplicating programs the school already runs.

A school rebuilding without losing its identity

Carihi opened in its current lineage in the mid-20th century and the present school name grew from “Campbell River High.” The Tyees identity remains active across school sport and community life.

A November 2024 fire significantly damaged part of the school. Recovery and reconstruction work is still part of the 2026–27 school year, while classes, athletics and student programs continue.

That makes this a school page where resilience should be real, not marketing copy: keep the school’s existing culture visible, point students toward current opportunities, and make any ROOTED support practical.

ROOTED SCHOOL IDENTITY SUPPORT

TYEES — EXISTING SCHOOL IDENTITY

Carihi actively uses the Tyees name across current athletics and school communications. ROOTED should preserve that existing identity, not replace it. Current athletics material is green-led; exact production colour values, logo files and commercial-use permission must come from the school before merchandise is produced.

ROOTED can develop three school-led directions around the existing Tyees identity: a traditional crest, original graffiti lettering and a school-approved mascot or character treatment. Existing protected marks stay untouched unless the school authorizes their use.

ASK ROOTED ABOUT THIS SCHOOL

Current school facts and identity evidence on this page come from official Carihi / SD72 sources and the Government of B.C. school registry. The Tyees name is verified. Exact production colour values, logo files and merchandise permissions are not assumed.

CARIHI // CAMPBELL RIVER // FIELD NOTES

TYEES, DOGWOOD STREET, AND A LOT MORE THAN A MASCOT.

Carihi’s page should feel like an established Campbell River secondary school with its own Tyees identity, a busy school community and immediate access to marine, forest, recreation and technical pathways.

01 // IDENTITY

TYEES, BUT CLEARLY ROOTED

Use the Tyees identity only where sourced from the school and keep ROOTED artwork clearly unofficial. The page can still hit hard with athletic lettering, school-colour accents, stickers and merch concepts without pretending they are official marks.

02 // PLACE

CAMPBELL RIVER IS THE LAB

Boats, marine safety, fishing, trails, forestry, photography, repair, trades and outdoor leadership all make sense here because they are part of the surrounding community rather than invented program themes.

03 // SCHOOL CULTURE

CARING + RESPECT + DIVERSITY

Carihi’s own code-of-conduct language emphasizes safety, respect, community and engaged learning. ROOTED should mirror that with practical pathways and optional weirdness, not turn the page into a gimmick.

04 // NEXT LEVEL

BUILD A CARIHI-SPECIFIC PATHWAY WALL

Show actual nearby branches students could climb: water, forest, mechanics, media, sport, emergency readiness and technical training, with transport and equipment support shown as the root system underneath.

ROOTED angle: make the page feel unmistakably Campbell River and unmistakably Carihi before a visitor even reads the school name.
