ROOTED SPORTS / ACTIVITY
ROOTED PROGRAM • PRACTICAL ACCESS / REAL SKILLS / PATHWAYS
Accessible winter movement, route planning and cold-weather competence using simple, durable shared equipment.
SPORT • ACCESS • SAFETY • EQUIPMENT • PATHWAYS • PARTNERS
One activity. One clear system. The right gear, instruction, access and contributors around it.
Each ROOTED sport page is built around access, safety, shared equipment, practical skill and a pathway forward—not just participation.
ROOTED Snowshoe & Winter Hiking is one of the easiest winter activities to scale. It builds movement, route planning, weather judgment and comfort outdoors without requiring lifts or highly specialized facilities.
Snowshoes, poles, winter footwear, gaiters, traction, headlamps, packs, repair straps and warm-layer systems.
Outdoor leadership, guiding awareness, winter camping, navigation, trail stewardship and entry-level mountain safety.
OUTREACH + ACTIVE CONTRIBUTORS
Names shown here may include organizations in outreach, active discussion, technical contribution or confirmed participation. ROOTED will only describe a company as a sponsor once support is actually committed.
Outreach = contacted or targeted. Contributor = providing useful input or access. Sponsor = committed support.
Current network for this activity:
Current relationship evidence: AdventureSmart has provided direct safety-routing guidance. Faber Snowshoes has provided human fleet-sizing and pricing guidance. MEC received ROOTED launch outreach, with no human reply evidenced.
Research/reference lanes: outdoor-safety resources, footwear, traction, packs, winter clothing and local trail operators. Inclusion here does not imply partnership, endorsement, funding or delivery.
Equipment brands, operators, associations, coaches, technicians and local experts can all contribute to an activity page.
Sponsor status will be updated as commitments are confirmed.
Individual sport pages are being expanded from the ROOTED Snow, Water, Bike and Field systems.
Want to bring this activity into a school or district? See the ROOTED Schools model and B.C. district directory.
ROOTED is still being developed with educators, qualified instructors, operators, safety professionals and community partners. If you know this work, bring the useful stuff.
