ROOTED SPORTS / ACTIVITY
ROOTED PROGRAM • PRACTICAL ACCESS / REAL SKILLS / PATHWAYS
Trip planning, weather, navigation, first aid, emergency judgment and stewardship — the connective safety layer across ROOTED.
SPORT • ACCESS • SAFETY • EQUIPMENT • PATHWAYS • PARTNERS
One activity. One clear system. The right gear, instruction, access and contributors around it.
Each ROOTED sport page is built around access, safety, shared equipment, practical skill and a pathway forward—not just participation.
ROOTED Outdoor Skills & Navigation is the connective tissue between sports. It builds the judgment that makes every other activity safer: trip planning, weather awareness, navigation, first-aid literacy, emergency communication and stewardship.
Maps, compasses, GPS/satellite communication where appropriate, headlamps, first-aid kits, water treatment, emergency shelter, packs and field-learning equipment.
Outdoor leadership, guiding, SAR awareness, emergency management, conservation, field science, instruction and recreation operations.
OUTREACH + ACTIVE CONTRIBUTORS
Names shown here may include organizations in outreach, active discussion, technical contribution or confirmed participation. ROOTED will only describe a company as a sponsor once support is actually committed.
Outreach = contacted or targeted. Contributor = providing useful input or access. Sponsor = committed support.
Current network for this activity:
Evidence-backed relationship state: AdventureSmart has provided provincial-first safety routing. Outdoor Council of Canada has engaged directly, but collaboration requires a separate alignment discussion and is not implied by email contact. St. John Ambulance and Black Diamond Equipment have been contacted without a human reply evidenced; MEC has launch outreach only. Canadian Red Cross first aid, JIBC Search & Rescue/Emergency Management, ZOLEO, Katadyn, Adventure Medical Kits, KEEN and other parks/public-safety routes remain official/research references. Brunton is an unsent draft and is not counted as outreach. No partnership, sponsorship or delivery commitment is implied.
Equipment brands, operators, associations, coaches, technicians and local experts can all contribute to an activity page.
Sponsor status will be updated as commitments are confirmed.
Individual sport pages are being expanded from the ROOTED Snow, Water, Bike and Field systems.
Want to bring this activity into a school or district? See the ROOTED Schools model and B.C. district directory.
ROOTED is still being developed with educators, qualified instructors, operators, safety professionals and community partners. If you know this work, bring the useful stuff.
