ROOTED SPORTS / ACTIVITY
ROOTED PROGRAM • PRACTICAL ACCESS / REAL SKILLS / PATHWAYS
Rescue skills, CPR, surveillance and water-safety competence connected directly to certifications and youth employment.
SPORT • ACCESS • SAFETY • EQUIPMENT • PATHWAYS • PARTNERS
One activity. One clear system. The right gear, instruction, access and contributors around it.
Each ROOTED sport page is built around access, safety, shared equipment, practical skill and a pathway forward—not just participation.
ROOTED Lifesaving & Lifeguarding turns water confidence into capability that protects other people. It creates a clear progression from basic swimming into rescue awareness, CPR, surveillance and recognized training.
Rescue tubes, manikins, masks, fins, throw aids, spinal boards, AED trainers, first-aid consumables, whistles, radios and access to pools or supervised waterfronts.
Lifeguarding, swim instruction, aquatic supervision, first aid, recreation work and future emergency-service pathways.
OUTREACH + ACTIVE CONTRIBUTORS
Names shown here may include organizations in outreach, active discussion, technical contribution or confirmed participation. ROOTED will only describe a company as a sponsor once support is actually committed.
Outreach = contacted or targeted. Contributor = providing useful input or access. Sponsor = committed support.
Current network for this activity:
Evidence snapshot: Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon has been contacted; no human reply is evidenced. Lifesaving Society Canada is an official national training and reference authority, but no direct ROOTED national-office relationship is evidenced. Canadian Red Cross is retained only as a historical aquatics reference because its national swim and lifeguard programming was wound down and transitioned toward Lifesaving Society Canada. City of Nanaimo Recreation/Aquatics, Fox 40, aquatic employers, rescue-equipment suppliers and AED/first-aid providers remain research/reference lanes.
Inclusion here does not imply partnership, endorsement, funding or delivery commitment.
Equipment brands, operators, associations, coaches, technicians and local experts can all contribute to an activity page.
Sponsor status will be updated as commitments are confirmed.
Individual sport pages are being expanded from the ROOTED Snow, Water, Bike and Field systems.
Want to bring this activity into a school or district? See the ROOTED Schools model and B.C. district directory.
ROOTED is still being developed with educators, qualified instructors, operators, safety professionals and community partners. If you know this work, bring the useful stuff.
